Michelin AraNea Composite, a subsidiary of the Michelin Group, won a silver medal at the INTERMAT Paris trade show for its sustainable alternative to metal reinforcements in the construction industry. This international competition rewards technical equipment, services or products that contribute to the progress of industry through innovation and decarbonization. AraNea Composite competed in the building, civil engineering and concrete industry category with its glass resin-based composite fiber. This solution meets the needs of the reinforced concrete market, which suffers from a high carbon footprint. It accounts for 8% of global CO₂ emissions, more than sea and air traffic combined. The promise is to reduce the carbon footprint by 30-70% by using composite fibers while eliminating the risk of corrosion, thus extending the life of structures. With Michelin AraNea Composite, Michelin introduces a breakthrough innovation to the demanding construction market.
